My drawings often draw inspiration from descriptive song lyrics or poetry. I keep a journal of my favourite lyrics and quotes from books, whether I just like the way it sounds, or whether it evokes a story in my mind.

Give in to the wild
2014 – A3 illustration, acrylic, watercolour and coloured pencil
Draw your own adventure
2015 – A1 (594mm x 841mm)
Coloured pencil, greylead and watercolour
A play on the phrase “choose your own adventure” – this is one of my favourite quotes as it reminds me of reading those “choose your own adventure” books as a kid.
Drawing is such a relaxing and yet exciting form of escapism, anything is possible when you have that pencil in your hand.
The Deepest Fathoms
2015 – A1 (594mm x 841mm)
Coloured pencil and watercolour
Swim down through the fathoms of your soul
If you don’t try and get your feet wet
You’re a liar and a troll
There’s etchings, thousands, etchings of your eyes
If you don’t climb atop the Eiffel
You’ll never fall or die…
– Peace, ‘Float Forever’
O
2014 – A3 (297mm x 420mm)
Coloured pencil
One minute they arrive,
Next you know they’re gone
They fly on
Fly on
So fly on
Ride through
Maybe one day I’ll fly next to you
They fly on
Ride through
Maybe one day I can fly with you
– Coldplay, ‘O’
